I am the founder of Somm-net (Southern Oregon Medical Marijuana Network), dedicated to helping people obtain and maintain their Oregon Medical Marijuana Act (OMMA) status.
I became a registered Oregon medical marijuana patient in October of 1999, one of the very first in Oregon to receive a card. Finally, I could legally medicate myself with the herb that I knew would bring me relief.

Five days later I officially began Somm-net which is located in the southern coastal town of Brookings Oregon where I have lived for the past 30 years. My purpose in starting Somm-net was to assist others in obtaining safe access to the healing herb by helping them through the application process with OMMA.

I also have seen the need for education within the local community. I work as an advocate for the people on their behalf. For those who are registered Somm-net is a place to exchange ideas and tips on cultivation or medical resources.

"Imagine if a doctor prescribed you penicillin but you had to somehow find it on the street -- or make it yourself."

"Having access to medical marijuana is the gap in all of this," he said. "If people really knew the trauma the patients go through, there would be a different attitude."
